Having a "Czar"-iously great time In Exeter, NH.

Remember the show "Cheers"? You know the one "where everybody knows your name"?

Well if you're like me and thought places like this only existed in television shows then allow me to introduce you to your new favorite hangout. Prepared to be treated like royalty (or something much better- like an old friend).

To describe the people that go to The Czars Brewery as being friendly and welcoming is a gross understatement. I was meeting a friend to check out the beer and had arrived an hour early due to poor planning on my part.

Thanks to a combination of good weather and the brewery already open for the day I decided to take up the bartenders offer to sit outside and enjoy the weather and their beer.

The people walking by stopped to hold small talk and complimented me on the great job I was doing in attracting new customers to the brewery! (I honestly can't take credit for this- their beer practically sells itself but we'll get to that in a bit!)

First Draught

Did I say how friendly the people were yet? The atmosphere here was so laidback, I felt as if I was sitting in a kitchen with my long-lost family and friends, catching up on all the gossip and news...over very tasty beer.

My friend has a knack for showing up at exactly the time he needs to be there, and he didn't fail this time. He arrived in style and was ready to sample everything this place had to offer, especially the beer.

Speaking of beer, The Czar's Brewery beers have received several "brewski" medals (which is no small feat due to the beer being judged by the consumers themselves!). My personal favorites of theirs include the Belgian Tripel "Abdij Weg" and their New England Hazy called "Bewildered". Both were full of flavor and went down extremely smooth and easy.

Of course the beers were complemented with tasty platters creatively named for all walks of royalty.

For this venture the "Holy Hand Grenades Of Antioch" sliders beat out sandwiches bearing names such as "The Menshevik" and "The Potemkin"-these beg to be tried, but for another day. The sliders melt in your mouth and burst with flavors coming from the cheese, brioche and salsa. A side of mac n cheese salad finished off the very satisfying culinary experience.

Last Call

My friend and I met Henry the owner and head Czar of the operation, who was more than willing to talk to us about what makes The Czar's Brewery special, from the selection of ingredients (including filtered water!) to the way in which the beer is made and stored. He gave us the history of the brewery and future plans, and was willing to talk well past closing time and into the night. He is that passionate about what he does and hasn't forgotten who he does it for.

Much like the traditional Kings of the land, he brews for and takes care of the people.

If you're ever in Exeter, NH and looking for a place to quench your thirst, satisfy your appetite with food that's fun to order, and mingle with an eclectic bunch of people that will welcome you into their lives as if you've always been there then set your sites on The Czar's Brewery. You'll be treated like royalty even without the cape and scepter.
